Elon Musk, the owner of X, is set to auction off various Twitter memorabilia in an upcoming event named "Twitter Rebranding: Online Auction Featuring Memorabilia, Art, Office Assets & More!" from September 12-14, as mentioned on the official auction website.
Among the 584 items to be auctioned are iconic blue bird logo signs, office furniture, and an array of musical instruments.
Notably, the auction includes the blue bird logo sign that's currently affixed to the Twitter headquarters in San Francisco. The listing states, “Bird is still mounted on the side of the building. Buyer is responsible for hiring an SF Licensed Company with appropriate Permits.”
Enthusiasts can also look forward to LED signs featuring the bird logo, hashtags, and @ symbols. Unique items like a wooden bird-themed table and a hashtag bookshelf are among the offerings. Additionally, several office fixtures such as sofas, refrigerators, coffee makers, and artworks — including a portrait of former President Obama and the former first lady Michelle Obama — are up for bids.
This auction follows reports that the prominent X sign, installed post the platform's rebranding by Musk, was taken down due to complaints from the city's residents and officials. Last month, Musk initiated the rebranding process, switching his profile picture to the X logo and promoting it extensively.
Since acquiring the platform last October, Musk has introduced various contentious modifications, such as restrictions on direct messaging and post visibility for users.
