Good morning. After more than a year of rival bids, boardroom drama, and a state attorneys general challenge, Paramount's $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery officially closed Tuesday, creating a new public company called Skydance. It's one of the largest media mergers ever completed, uniting two of Hollywood's oldest studios and giving the combined entity control over roughly a third of basic cable programming. David Ellison, who led the pursuit and now runs the combined company, spent over a year fending off competing offers and a legal fight from state regulators before getting this across the line. The deal reshapes the competitive map for streaming, film, and cable all at once, consolidating leverage that used to be split between two separate giants. It's worth remembering how unsettled the industry still is underneath this: Warner Bros. Discovery itself had been planning to split into two companies just last year before this offer changed its course. Below: today's five recent stories across markets, AI, policy, and security.
