AI Experts See Surge in Salaries as Demand Grows

Companies are ramping up salaries to attract professionals with expertise in artificial intelligence (AI). Netflix, recently under the spotlight due to the ongoing actors' and writers' strike, is offering roles with a whopping annual salary that can reach $900,000.

For a data scientist role in LA's advertising sector, the compensation ranges from $390,000 to $900,000. Netflix elaborated on its website, "Our team's objective is to harness machine learning in order to provide our members with a plethora of choices and enhance their viewing experience."

According to Goldman Sachs, the global AI investment could skyrocket to around $200 billion by 2025.

Machine learning job listings in Los Gatos, California, vary, with some paying between $100,000 to $700,000, and others falling in the $449,000 to $842,000 range. Netflix highlighted, "Our compensation encompasses total rewards, not just the base, echoing our unique work culture."

However, Netflix isn't alone in its pursuit. Many companies are willing to offer handsome pay packages to secure talent with relevant AI qualifications.

For instance, Hinge, the renowned dating app, is on the hunt for a VP of AI, indicating its shift towards becoming an "AI-centric" company. This position can command a base salary ranging between $332,000 to $398,000 annually.

In comparison, Amazon's senior manager overseeing applied science and generative AI has a salary bracket that starts from $175,000 and can go up to $340,000, depending on the region. Amazon emphasizes its comprehensive approach, stating, "Compensation depends on various aspects, including location, expertise, and experience. Our package might also include equity, signing bonuses, and diverse benefits."

Meanwhile, Walmart offers a salary band of $168,000 to $252,000 for its senior manager role in software engineering focused on its conversational AI platform, based out of Sunnyvale, California.

With the AI field booming, there's a scarcity of specialists. However, to counteract this shortage, certain enterprises are initiating training programs for their workforce.
